The Smart Recycling Bins support 24-hour operation, measure and record the weight of recyclables automatically, and record electronic bonus points earned through recycling, thereby facilitating self-service recycling. The recycling bin can record the recycling collected and transfer information and data through the IoT network to the local authority. Based on the data, the local authority could provide residents with a reward scheme to motivate them to separate recyclable materials from their waste and recyclables. It supports different types of recyclables (i.e,. plastics, glass bottles, papers, metals, aluminum cans, and beverage cartons)
